The Names in This Verse (4)

352 anirdeśyagatiḥ

whose course cannot be charted

353 nāgavanitāpatibhaikṣadaḥ

who granted the serpent-wives the husband's life they begged for

sparing Kāliya

S.B.G 10.16.66

'Giver of Kāliya's life to the snake-women' — Kṛṣṇa grants Kāliya's life to his wives as their bhaikṣa (alms-gift); the Lord gives his enemy back to those who love him.

354 svāṅghrimudrāṅkanāgendramūrdhā

upon whose serpent-king's hoods his own footprint was set

S.B.G 10.16.27

'With his foot's mark stamped on the king-serpent's head' — Kṛṣṇa's footprint remains on Kāliya's central hood; the serpent carries this mark when he departs to the ocean.

355 kāliyasaṃstutaḥ

well-praised by Kāliya

S.B.G 10.16.62

Praised by Kāliya himself — broken and humbled, Kāliya joins his wives in praising Kṛṣṇa; the conqueror's grace transforms even the defeated.
