The Names in This Verse (4)

391 bimbādharārpitodāraveṇuḥ

who set the noble flute to his bimba-red lips

S.B.G 10.21.5

'With noble flute placed on his lower lip (red as a bimba fruit)' — the bimba-red lower lip and the bamboo flute touching it is one of the iconographic central images.

392 viśvavimohanaḥ

the enchanter of all the world

S.B.G 10.29.40

Enchanter of the whole world — Kṛṣṇa's flute enchants not just gopīs but all beings: cows, deer, birds, trees, even rivers and stones are described as moved by it.

393 vrajasaṃvarṇitaśrāvyaveṇunādaḥ

whose sweet flute-note is extolled through all Vraja

S.B.G 10.21.18

Whose audible flute-music is praised throughout Vraja — the Veṇu-gīta chapter is one long meditation on the effects of his flute-sound on every category of being.

394 śrutipriyaḥ

dear to the ear, and to the Veda

S.B.G 10.21.18

Dear to the Vedas (śruti) — even the Vedas, personified, come to hear Kṛṣṇa's flute; in their hymn at S.B.G 10.87 the Vedas declare him their object of love.
